What is Enhanced Security?
Enhanced Security is an extra level of security for your online banking account. It is now an automatic part of our online banking login process. It adds extra layers to our online security program to provide even more protection against unauthorized access to your accounts and lets you know that you are at Western Reserve Bank’s Online Banking website. It is the newest part of our continuing efforts to protect you against identity theft and fraud.

What does Enhanced Security involve?
Enhanced Security consists of multiple components designed to work together in allowing access to your accounts. These components consist of an image, a pass phrase, and three to six challenge questions that are known only to you and Western Reserve Bank. These, used with your Access ID and password for online banking, protect you regardless of whether you are logging into your accounts from you own personal computer or another computer.

How does Enhanced Security protect me?
Once you enter your Access ID on the Online Banking login screen & click Submit, your image will then be displayed with your pass phrase. This lets you know that you are at Western Reserve Bank’s Online Banking website and you are safe to continue the login process to access your account information. Enhanced Security protects you from accidentally or unknowingly revealing your Access ID and password to an imposter or fraudulent website. If someone does get your Access ID and password and attempts to login, they will be using a computer that you have not registered and Enhanced Security will ask the imposter to answer the challenge questions. Since they won’t know the answers you provided during the setup process, they will be turned away and Western Reserve Bank will be notified.

Will I need to change my password?
No, your password will remain the same.

Why do I need to answer challenge questions?
Challenge questions and answers provide information known only to you and Western Reserve Bank. They help prevent unauthorized access to your account information. If someone gains knowledge of your Access ID and password, they will not know the answers to your challenge questions and will not be able to get access to your accounts.

Can someone steal my image and pass phrase?
No, your image and pass phrase is shown only to you if you login on a computer that has been registered or you have successfully answered the challenge questions that have been asked.

Why does it ask me challenge questions when I enter my Access ID, instead of showing my image?
This is done to identify that it is really you logging into online banking. Some reasons that you may be asked are:
- You are logging in from a different computer
- You are logging in from a different browser
- You may have cleared your cookies from your computer
- You incorrectly typed your Access ID
Once you've successfully answered the questions, you will be shown your image and pass phrase.

What happens if I use a different computer from my own?
Each time you login from a different computer, you will be asked the challenge questions that you answered so that we can verify your identity. Once you’ve provided us with the correct answers, your image and pass phrase will be displayed. You will also be asked if you would like to register the computer from which you are logging in on. If you say yes to this option, Enhanced Security will capture information about the computer so that you will not be asked to answer challenge questions the next time you use that computer to login.

What if my computer is used by more than one person?
There is no limit on the number of people that can login to Western Reserve Bank’s website from the same computer. The image will display if it recognizes your Access ID.

Can I change my image and pass phrase?
Yes, you can. Once you are logged in, simply click on Options, then Change Security Data. Find the image you want to appear and click on the image (Clicking the checkbox will not capture the image for you.).
